Camel Milk

During a malaria outbreak, members of Rajasthan’s Rebari community have a unique remedy: camel milk. Though camel milk was illegal in India during the outbreak. By that time, it has already gained a lot of attention in the Middle East and Western Countries. US has been importing camels to set up dairy farms. It speaks a lot about the demand for camel milk.

Let’s see some of the pros sides of the milk. It is the closest substance present on earth which is closest to the mother’s milk, the most superior form of milk. It protects newborn babies from various health issues. It is a source of natural insulin like protein. There are researches conducted which indicate the consumption of camel milk can assist in lower the blood sugar level and lowering cholesterol. If you have an allergy to cow milk, camel milk is the best alternative because it’s a different protein than cow’s milk.

A coin has 2 sides. There are some cons too. The milk is a bit expensive. Further, the producers aren’t even able to match the demand. It’s harmful to consume unpasteurized camel milk as it has the potential of making you sick.

Still, we don’t have yogurt, butter, and other dairy products of camel milk in sufficient amount due to the challenges in the processing. If you don’t have camel milk in your local stores, you can order online the frozen or the powdered version.

Yesterday, I went out, and there I came across camel’s milk. I was curious to taste it and even more curious to know why we need camel milk as we are already the largest milk producer in the world for the last 23 years. The above benefits clearly explain the rise of camel milk.
