Label

Our mind run on tagging. Probably you have tagged each and every person you remember in one way or other in the mind. Let’s explore how environment effects our thinking pattern in labelling.

In an experiment, psychologist showed video of a girl playing in a low income neighbourhood to one group and to other group showed the same girl but in a middle income neighbourhood. The girl was asked same set of questions in both the videos. She answered accurately some of them and committed mistakes too. The research found that humans has the tendency to associate socioeconomic level with academic performance. However, the truth may be different but humans treat higher level with high cognitive abilities.

Similarly, an influencer talking about a product may not use the product in his day to day life. The below image is a perfect example on that front.

If still wondering what’s wrong with the tweet, revisit the last line. The same goes for all other advertisements you engage with throughout the day. However, our other smart device, brain, unconsciously believe the guy in the ad is using the product too.

Are you suddenly blaming the influencers?

They are doing the correct thing to make their livelihood. We must be conscious enough to say NO to such products. Banning things have a reverse effect. The most powerful tool is to ignore 😅

Until then…!

Cheers to the cohort members for continuing the Tiny Project for Day 9!
