You can learn a lot of principles from the masters (dead or alive) than any other sources. They have spent their entire life in building up those concepts. We learn the Newton’s laws in the Physics class and Pythagorean theorem in the mathematics class. We are already leveraging the existing ideas. Is there anything wrong in that?
Now come to business observe Instagram cloning the reels feature from TikTok and story feature from Snapchat. On the other side, Twitter cloning spaces feature from Clubhouse. However, the story feature didn’t work out for LinkedIn and Twitter.
There is no harm in utilizing an existing principle and editing it per your needs. It gives you an edge and don’t have to spend time in figuring out a way which may or may not workout. I got inspired about cloning more actively after having read about Mohnish Pabrai whose life is all about cloning from the masters and executing it per his needs. You might complain there is nothing original in this, so what? It is not necessary to have an original idea to succeed in life. As Charlie says, “Take a simple idea and take it seriously.” It is easier said than done, especially when we are bombarded with new ideas every day. It is easy to get distracted from the simple idea. But the one who follows Charlie’s principle seriously tastes the pinnacle of success.
