Do we get stuck to the rejections?

Research suggests our brain attracts the negative more easily, but does it retain the same for longer duration?

We tend to forget our success easily, but not our failures. That’s how our brain work. Remember the half full, half empty glass of water scenario. Half full is a gain frame and half empty is a loss frame of mind. In most of the scenarios, we look from the loss frame mindset and it remains stuck. A research showed that patients rejected an operation when suggested with 30% failure rate (loss frame) but accepted the same operation when suggested with 70% success rate (gain frame). To understand the situation better, the researcher told the patient in the loss frame that you have a success rate of 70% and told the patient in the gain frame that you have a failure rate of 30%. Both the groups responded the same and rejected the operation. It is hard to change the reference once you started thinking negatively. It takes a lot of work to move from negative to positive, but a little effort can help you move from positive to negative.

We need to train our brain to think positively. Before you go to bed, you can write about the things that you are grateful for. When you start your day you can think what’s good in me? Knowing you will be stuck in the negative, it’s high time you act to keep your mind in the positive frame.
