
I started a sleep routine on Saturday where I kept a cheat day. But why do I need such a day? Shouldn’t I be focusing on maintaining the streak as long as possible? However, research suggests that having a cheat day makes us continue the habit for a longer period. We rarely use the day because we want to save the cheat day for a future uncertainty.
We keep on extending the cheat for the next day and you would observe that you have completed the entire week just by pushing for tomorrow. However, now I know why I am keeping the cheat day. Therefore, the most important aspect is to be honest with oneself else. Without being committed, it will be very difficult to sustain the habit. The driving force to improve should be way higher on the first day. Also, share your commitment publicly or with your family members. It makes you accountable and you will refrain from giving up. Moreover, one should continue reading about sleep as much as possible. It will boost you to be on the right track.
