I used to believe technology make us weak too along with making the things easier for us. The physical strength of people has been declining as we aren’t using those muscle šŖ on same scale.
I even complained once that our memory is no longer sharp. We have contacts to remember the numbers, Google maps to remember the route, Facebook to remember the birthdays and more.
There is another perspective to it. They are helping us to be more productive. Giving us time to focus on remembering things that are more important to us and spend more time on thinking, the most important asset of human life.
Also we can proactively work to sharpen our memory skills. Do you have a memory diet? Do you have anything on your plate that really need memorizing stuff. If you don’t then why bother what your weakening memory skills.
However, there will be times when you will need all the information of the google search in your mind so that you can process the data and take right decisions quickly.
The above rationale makes me worry about my memory skill. So the best way is to just figure out a thing from your tasks that need memorization and if you don’t have one simply include one may be just for 5 minutes, at least you are keeping the muscles alive.
