Virtual Book Club

Do you want to join a book club where you can discuss the book with a cohort of 3-5 people reading the same book? But why do we need to discuss the book in the first place? For that we need to know first why are we reading books. Ahaa too many questions!!!

We read books to learn or for entertainment. The best way to gain more learning from the book is to discuss it with your friends or peer group. The difficulty we face in general is finding people to discuss. The challenge got fueled in this pandemic where everything is virtual.

I was discussing the same with one of my close friends Anurag today. He suggested creating a small community where we can discuss the book. The main challenge would be to reach a consensus of reading the same book or at least find two people who are willing to read the same book. In simple terms, I won’t like it if no one is willing to discuss the book I am reading. It’s easy to solve when we have mass users. It’s highly likely to find a match. But when you have low users it’s not that easy. Makes me wonder how Bumble and Tinder worked in the initial phase because without any potential match people won’t use the platform for a longer duration. It’s all about getting more users on the platform.

What’s your thought on such a virtual club?
