During the evening, I came across an interesting article on a German soap company targeting Hindustan Unilever Limited, the king of soap in Indian market. It owns plethora of soap brands namely Dove, Lux, Lifebuoy, Pears. I have used all of them proudly that too without even knowing if they are really good for me.
After reading about the soap, I watch this commercial ad on youtube. I found the ad pretty interesting. It is an educative ad. The ad talk about the pH value for our skin. Before deep diving into that let me brief what is pH value. pH is a measure of how acidic/basic an aqueous solution is. The range goes from 0 to 14, with 7 being neutral. pHs of less than 7 indicate acidity, whereas a pH of greater than 7 indicates a base. Per analysis of our skin it has been determined that pH value of healthy skin is between 4.5 and 5.5. What kind of soap should we apply on your skin? The basic one i.e. pH value of greater than 7 or the one having pH value of around 5. When we apply the alkaline soap, it damages the acidic mantle of our skin. The acidic nature of our skin protects us. By using alkaline soap we are losing our own strength.
During lockdown I used fuller’s soil, I didn’t know wonder about pH then. I googled about it’s pH and it was around 5. It made me wonder the ancient people used things logically. Let’s know more about the things that we use regularly.
