You might have been moving to signal as a new wave of privacy concern has been raised. Even Elon Musk tweeted about it.

Whatsapp is simply leveraging it’s network effect. It’s not easy to clone all the users from Whatsapp to Signal. There might be various people who don’t even care if the data is being shared. Until and unless most of the people in your network shift to signal or any other messaging apps you may find it difficult to leave Whatsapp.

On integration of such huge data, the company might be able to target better ads for you. If you are interested in such ads obviously it’s a great thing for you. But if you feel like exploited it’s time to start exploring other options. There is nothing free on this planet except amazing friends 😀

But on the way to explore other options you won’t find users on that options. As a result of that you have to stay in Whatsapp for the time being. Since we stay for time being we accept this new normality and become used to it.
