Do we respect Inanimate Object?

Before jumping straight to the answer, first let me ask do we really need to respect inanimate objects? They don’t have any sign of life. In whatever way we behave they won’t be affected. The statement is actually true. But there lies a crux. We treat things the way we are. We end up behaving differently with people since we might need something in return and it may affect the long term relationships. Additionally other persons can spread about our ill behaviour. But the inanimate object cannot. Hence, do we really need to respect it?

Who does care how the laptop is lying or how’s my cloth in the cupboard?

Honestly, no one really cares. But it has a tremendous power to affect our brain and behaviour. Just to reiterate we treat things the way we are. You might be wondering, how’s that gonna change the behaviour. Let’s see how the behaviour is build. A habit is a product of repetitions. We keep things here and there without any order, the brain captures this pattern. We keep repeating it the whole day from morning to night. We have been training the brain to keep wandering instead of helping it to build focus. Habit has the compounding effect too. After a duration of time, the same behaviour starts to take place with living objects too. The changes are way too subtle to identify until they become too big and too hard to be broken.

It doesn’t mean we will stop kicking Football. It’s just the nature of the game and we are playing it with respect. Internally, we always know when we are respecting to the inanimate objects. Respecting inanimate object may sound weird. But when we learn to respect without expecting it in return. That’s where the real learning begins 🙂

At times we end up throwing or wasting paper. How would you feel if someone throw or waste us in a similar fashion? Treat things the way we wanted to get treated. If you already have been respecting them, it speaks a lot about your kindness and caring nature. If not, it’s really never too late to change, today is a bright day to start.
