At times we lose a good habit. After losing the habit, it becomes hard to resume it to the level we left. The easiest way to resume is just pursuing it for 2 minutes. It is more important to get started than anything else. However, our brain want to start at the same level. But we cannot start at the same level after a break. Hence, we end up loosing the habit completely.
However, it is easy to build a permanent habit. We need to remind the brain daily for the habit, for instance, to brush, we need to remind out brain regularly. The activity of brushing might be on autopilot mode, where we don’t put conscious effort.
At times we simply don’t remind the brain or give up easily, assuming we won’t be able to do the habit only for a day. The day extends to two then three then a week or a month. Until we consciously realise that we lost that habit. Giving 2 minutes on that first day might have better than completely leaving the habit. Keeping the streak alive gives an energy of its own. On the other hand, the more we delay to get started the more time it takes to reach to the previous level, that’s the power of compounding.
