Yesterday, we discussed the first five instincts here. Let’s discussing the remaining five today.
Generalisation Instinct: We have the habit to generalise things. We don’t look for the differences within the group. We will generalise Americans as a whole, where everyone is living a luxurious life whereas the reality is totally different. They have citizenship of all income group.
Destiny Instinct: We already discussed as to how Africa is destined to be a poor continent. Just to remind you, Turtle always wins the race. Keeping track of the small improvements is important.
Single Perspective Instinct: Numbers don’t always give the true picture. It’s better to look at a challenge from various angles. It helps in understanding the situation far better. Still, in practice we follow only one direction.
Blame Instinct: We are high on this instinct. If we don’t find anything to blame, we will directly blame the God. One way or the other we will find someone or something to blame. One needs courage to take the responsibility.
Urgency Instinct: The tendency to act right now or we may lose. “We must do something drastic. Let’s not analyse. Let’s do something.” Actions without any proper reasoning may not take you far in your mission. Ultimately reach a position where it’s all hopeless. There’s nothing we can do. Time to give up.
The book truly helps in improving our distorted world view. We are observing the world the way we are and the way world is. At time the reality is totally different and it may be hard to accept the factual data. The art of questioning is really important. You may ask dumb questions at the beginning but as you improve over time you get the real picture not the distorted one.
