Do you think Africa will ever be like that of a western country? Probably not. We already have a destiny myth that Africa can’t progress so much. Same was said about China and India that they won’t be able to feed their own population. But we have come a long way ahead. It may sound weird but that’s the way we think.
Do you think the people below the poverty line having more children is not good for the society?
I used to think that they are having more children and as a result the population is increasing significantly. However, it is necessary for such people to have more children. If you see the trend, as people’s income level progress they have fewer children. At such income levels the parents alone can’t make the end meets. The children need to put on efforts too. Even if a child gets some fatality, those people can’t afford the healthcare and end up losing their child. Therefore, in order to rise to higher level of income having more children for such people is good.
If you are thinking, how will Africa progress. Let’s look through the course of time. During your childhood how many smartphones did you see in your house? Probably none or one. The scenario has totally changed today. How much fluctuation was there in electricity back then and now. These changes happen over a period and our brain has tough time to catch them. We are trained to catch the short-term changes not the long-term ones. Since you have progresses so much why can’t Africa or any other country including Pakistan. If you are still how will it possible, let me remind you the name of our neighboring country, Bangladesh.
I started with a negative topic because our brain is more attracted to such topics, whereas the topic would have been Africa is making progress the chances would have been lower for you to read this article. Negative sells faster. That’s why we see so much of negative news over electronic media and paper media.
