Power of repeat

We mostly want to begin a new task with perfection as we are comparing the end product with the well established brands or personality. Few starts low and keep improving with every iteration. This plan surely works. I can confirm it from my own experience of writing.

Back in time an experiment was conducted among a group of photography students. The group was divided into 2 parts. Students in group A have to just submit only the best photo, focusing on the quality whereas students in group B have to submit a numerous photos as much as they can, focusing on the quantity. What do you think which group performed better?

You may be tempted to think that the group A might have done the job better as it was focused on the quality and they need to submit only one piece. The reality is that group B performed a lot better, isn’t it strange?

Group B kept on improving after every photos students were taking actions and making small improvements after every photos on the other hand group A was not action oriented as the students needed to improve only one photo. They invested most of the time in reading instead of executing the things. Obviously there should be planning phase there is no doubt but real planning begins after we take actions.

If you are still awaiting for perfection, its better to jump to action and keep iterating every day. Habits are formed with repetitions. It is not about days. It is about how many times one executes the action so that it turn to autopilot after reaching the tipping point.
