Today is the last day of the week long festival “Paryushana Parv”. However, the next 2 days are more special.
The day is about internal journey than external one. The current environment is better for touring the internal beauty. The place is suitable for all variants of people. On the seventh day of my writing journey, I wrote about my experience at Vipasanna here. It may not be possible for you to take out 10 straight days from your life to live without mobile devices and internet. However, we can take out 5-10 minutes on daily basis to know oneself better.
Meditation is more about being in the present. Enjoying the moment with whatever stuff one is doing. We don’t have to reach the eternal space just on a click. It is about enjoying the journey and building the processes to reach the end goal.
On observing the thoughts you will note that, it is difficult to stay with one thought for more than 10 seconds. We like roaming from one to another, getting into the chain of thoughts one after another until we are back to conscious. The meditation helps us to focus.
Thinking isn’t easy. People choose electric shocks over thinking. Thinking creates more pressure over our mind. We don’t like to accept that we were wrong all the time. We figure out ways to proof one self right. Knowing the right thing is easy, it is way difficult to do the right thing. We all know we must be honest, still we end up lying at times. We know we must stay calm, still we end up shouting. We know we must chew our food properly, still we don’t. We know we must do exercise, still we don’t. There are many more things that we know. It doesn’t help until we reflect them in out action. After all, action speaks louder than word. The right question is why it is difficult to act? We got into the habit of not to be an action taker, now we don’t want to leave the comfort zone. Taking baby steps will surely help.
