People have been pursuing online courses to skill up oneself in the lockdown period. Giving boost to e-eduction. Do we really need a university going forward?

First let’s explore why people go to university. People generally pursue higher education as one wants to learn more on a particular topic. The subject is of one’s interest. Secondly, one might want to explore other viable options as one didn’t like the current job. Thirdly, one wants to form a good network, by passing out from a great university. Fourthly, one wants to move to another place so studying in that country gives a sort of license to do a job in that country. Fifthly, everyone around me is going for Masters, so I must not be left out. I don’t see any other major reasons apart form the above five ones. If you do know of any, please comment below.

Let’s see the pros and cons of studying in a University.

Cons: The fees are higher. Getting a scholarship is not an easy task. It’s more like Jio, taking loan to build oneself and paying it of later through the earnings. Jio did it by selling stake. However, you need to put efforts to be equivalent of Jio. One can increase one’s value on completion of the course. There is an opportunity cost as during college days you won’t be making same amount of money as in job, however if you continued your professional work, you would have earned a healthy amount. Sudden change in the policy of the country may adversely affect your future options.

Pros: One has more time to experiment. Time is money. One can interact with the brilliant professors and students from different backgrounds. One can grow more in this time and know things better and increase the understanding of the relevant concepts. One gets to explore the culture of that country and interact with alumni.

Will explore more about the online courses in the upcoming articles. Could you guess the university in the image above?
