There is a ongoing trend in India of uninstalling the popular Chinese application on the mobile phones. We will looking by category:
Gaming: PUBG, PUBG Lite, Clash of Kings, Mafia City, Ludo World and many more games.
Shopping Apps: AliBaba, AliExpress, Club Factory, and more.
Social Media: TikTok, Helo, LIKE, Kwai , WeChat and more.
Others: UC Browser, BeautyPlus, AppLock, Cam Scanner, Xender, Shareit, and more.
More than 40 apps in the top 100 in India are owned by Chinese. You can find the listing here. I also want to draw your attention to other application which are indirectly owned by Chinese companies.
PayTM’s majority share is owned by the Chinese Tech giant Alibaba. Though PayTM seems like a Indian Company. However it is not as the majority of share(42%) are owned by Alibaba Group.
On similar lines Swiggy, Zomato, Big Basket, Byju’s, OYO, Rivigo, Udaan and more unicorn startups are backed by Chinese investors. Shouldn’t we boycott them too? As we are boycotting other Chinese apps.
Why are we boycotting Chinese apps?
Chinese government earns it revenue from taxing these investors and other companies like Oneplus, Xiaomi and more. Eventually the government invests the money into its dragon army who mocks the Indian army at the border. We are not against the citizens of China or their products. We are against the behavior of Chinese government as Sonam Wangchuk, Phunsukh Wangdu of 3 idiots, pointed out in his video.
You may think we don’t have an alternative. That’s half truth. We are so dependent on China that we have stopped looking for other options.
Necessity is the mother of all creation.
